Barrow and Bench Mitre10 is a thoroughly modern, award winning, family owned hardware store and garden centre where you will find great service and quality stock all at one convenient location. Proprietors Paul and Amanda Stewart have a passion for what they do, and a focus on service, convenience and quality. Paul, a 'chippy' by trade; serves as Deputy President of Hardware Australia, SA Committee, and has a long history of involvement in supporting local charities, and sporting groups, and, of course, in building and renovation. Amanda has garden design and horticultural qualifications, and a great passion for green-living and the outdoors. Between them they can assist you with all the inspiration and the advice you need to renovate and style your home and garden.
Barrow and Bench has a long and proud history of serving home owners and renovators alike. First established in April 1978, Barrow & Bench was created by the Stewart & Coote families, and began trading from the old Ampol Service Station site at the corner of Unley Road and Fisher Street, Unley, as a Big H store. In August 1982 Barrow & Bench joined the Mitre10 Group, and in 1984 the Stewart family became the sole owners of the outlet. In 1995, following a stint as a carpenter, Paul joined the business, and in 1999 the store relocated and moved into what was the Fairway Ford site at 321 Unley Road, Malvern. Ian Stewart retired in 2006, and Paul continued to manage the store.
Paul and Amanda purchased the store in 2013. Their focus is on ensuring the store continues to grow and develop as a reputable, locally owned, hardware store. Service, convenience and quality remain at the forefront of their business.
